Friday is Pajama Day!

Anyone know what this is????

This is our pebble points jar.
When we fill the jar, the class get's to vote on something fun.
It took a whole month to fill this jar and they earned every bit!
This time around they voted on wearing their P.J.'s to school.
They may where school appropriate jammies on FRIDAY, 9/25/09.
Slippers are okay too as long as they bring shoes for recess.

In our class we have a saying:
"If you wanna' EARN it,
first you gotta' LEARN it!"

Great job kids!

Today's News

If you missed our President's speech to our students you can watch it here. We were not able to watch it at school, but I read the transcript and it is about being responsible for your own education, working hard, and reaching your goals. All-in-all, I thought it was a really inspiring speech for our students. In social studies today we talked about being good citizens and things like being respectful, responsible, honest, caring, and having courage to do what is right. If you choose to share the speech with your child this will fit in well with our citizenship lessons.

Thursday is our PE day. Please wear appropriate footwear.

Next Monday, September 14th, 2009 is Picture Day! Please look for the picture advertisement/payment envelope in your child's Friday folder. I make sure they get home, please make sure they come back!

Please check the volunteer calendar on the back of the Monthly Buzz! We are doing centers now and I could use your help if I have assigned you a day. I did my best to schedule everyone according to their preferences on the volunteer survey. Thanks for your help!

The President's Address to American Students

Due to lack of notice that the President was going to address America's Students via web cast and concerns about using instructional time, our district has opted to not show the address at our elementary school. You can read their statement about it here.

If you would like to watch the address, the White House said that there will be a live stream that you can watch if from or there will be a downloadable version you can watch on their site at some point later in the day. As far as I can tell on what I have read, it looks as though the President's address topic will be on achieving goals.
